We are attending the OBBG meeting this week.
We have guest staying with us this week from Philadelphia, Miami, Denver, Los Angeles, and Eugene. It is wonderful having guests stay with us in the “off season” to enjoy the serenity of the Hill.
Vineyard work is progressing well and we will start pruning this weekend. Lots to do. The weather is not too rainy.

We opened up a couple of bottles of 2007s last night. They are developing well in the bottle and opened up well.

What a glorious day it is up here on the Hill. Just finishing a wine tasting and then back into the vineyard.

No not for shopping (yet), for working in the vineyard. The weather is cooperating today to let us stay dry and get more work done before pruning.
The guests just left for the day. We have several wine tasting appointments coming up this afternoon. Unfortunately, the fog has not lifted enough to see our great views. Maybe it will lift later.

The seasonal rains that we so much need are finally here, even if it does make it unpleasant working in the vineyard.
Las Vegas included many good events and meeting many in the industry there. Hope everyone there has a better year in 2010.
Cheers,

This picture was taken a couple of months ago just before harvest. It’s a great birds eye view of Youngberg Hill and all the different aspects. The two big green areas are the Jordan Block (upper left) and Natasha Block (lower middle). To the left is the three year old vines of the Aspen Block (pinot gris). In the left corner between the Jordan and Natasha Blocks is the new planting of Pinot noir (Camelot Block). This is a total of 21 acres. Along the upper right side is the horse pasture, below the red barn.
On top of the hill is the bright green area where weddings are held and the adjoining tents for shade. And of course, on top is the lovely Inn overseeing everything.

I had a opportunity to stop at the Maysara Winery http://www.maysara.com yesterday and enjoyed seeing everyone. The wines were beautiful and the food Flora & Moe created themselves may have been Persian in origin but had a Greek flair that they did so well. It was fun to see their girls pouring the wines and telling stories. It warmed my heart to think of Natasha, Jordan, and Aspen doing that someday! They are our neighbors and we are truly blessed to have them as friends.
