Yummy!

November 24, 2009

We would like to thank Renae Heineck from Custom Cakes www.customcakesnw.com for bringing one of her chocolate desserts by today.  Renea has done cakes at events of ours in the past and they are always leaving you wanting more.  I will jog an extra mile tomorrow for the privilege.

November 17, 2009

We are putting new catch wires in the Aspen Block today, as well as, taking clips nad ties off the catch wires in the Jordan and Natasha Block in preparation for pruning. The weather has not been bad except for the gail winds and hard rain we had last night.

Harvest begins

September 26, 2009

harvestOK,so it wasn’t alot. This was the first year for harvesting anything from our Aspen Block of Pinot gris. Wonderful flavors and in great shape. Just not much of it.

The weather looks iffy for harvesting any Pinot the coming week and the fruit could use a little more time, so look for excitement the week of the 5th.

As always, we are blessed with wonderful guests who enjoy having their blood pressure reduced by 20 points. Several have submitted reviews on TravelAdvisor. Thank you very much to all from everyone at Youngberg Hill.

The vine are up to the top wire in many places (6 feet) and growing. This is ideal weather for growing but also for mildew. We ar hoeing, suckering, and putting in pencil rods. The guests are loving the experience.

Will be preparing for bloom next week with protection for the new flowers.

Vineyard work

June 3, 2009

Our guests are enjoying working in the vineyard this morning. We are teaching them to shoot position and raise catch wires. Our guests love the opportunity to experience the work going on in the vineyard at Youngberg Hill Vineyards & Inn. Many feel a kinship to the grapes and buy futures of the vintage they have played a roll in. It is a great connection.

Some choose to spend a half day or all day in the vineyard learning the entire seasonal cycle from pruning in January to harvest in October. We love to do it as well.

Then of course we must taste the wines that came from those vines!wiresnew leafs
